Dj Rockid starts new label called FOKTOP! and releases official mixtape.
Dj Rockid started over a year ago with a club night called Foktop! It’s a crossover concept that started in the club. This style of music is called “Fidget” and has the raw character of hip hop and incorporates snippets and bits of house, UK garage, electro, breakbeat and baile funk while still influenced by today’s electronic dance music. Artists like Crookers, Switch and Herve are championing this sound all over the world.
Dj Rockid has been a dj turntablist for years dj and represented the Netherlands five times at the acclaimed DMC World championships for dj’s +-in the last 10 years.
His “Fidget” sound is clearly inspired by his technical dj skills from those turntablist years and Rockid is planning to broaden this sound to dancefloors, radio and events.

In order to make the Foktop! Concept more known , Dj Rockid created a new platform through his record label called Foktop! which will be a sub-label under the wings of Sneakerz MUZIK. Besides releasing his own productions on Foktop!, Dj Rockid is planning collaborations with artists like Jaimie Fanatic, the Fringe, Mighty Fools, Lady Bee, Kelevra, Randy Santino and more. Foktop! will focus on the raw side of dance music and house. Dirty sound with a Dutch edge to the “Fidget” sound which is currently hitting with international dj’s and artists like David Guetta, Tiga, Boys Noize, Laidback Luke and Crookers. First release on his new born Foktop! label, will be a new triple a-side single by DJ Rockid called “Back to the Oldskool / Rock The House / Girlz”. Remixes are provided by Nouveau Beats & Qui Qui and Mighty Fools.
Next up is Spencer & Hill with their single “Cool” featuring a killer remix by one of Holland’s in demand producers Afrojack.
Laidback Luke and Diplo’s anthem “HEY!” will follow closely with exclusive remixes by Sidney Samson, Jaimie Fanatic & Dj Rockid and Skitzofrenix vs Jeff Doubleu.
Foktop! fourth release is the exciting EP containing exclusive tracks by DJ Rockid and friends taken from his brand new cd compilation “Foktop! The Official Mixtape”.

Dj Rockid Q & A on this brand new compilation DJ Rockid presents Foktop! The Official Mixtape.

Q : You had the opportunity to create your own official mix compilation, how did you start?
DJ Rockid : Yo, first I selected some of my own fresh productions , I produce electronic music which is a blend between Hiphop, Baltimore, Rave, House and Disco called “Fidget” as most people will call it. Then I contacted by Dutch friends who are also producing tracks in a similar style. I received great tracks by Real El Canario, Boemkltsch and Kypski (who’s one of my old scratch buddy’s ). Besides these tracks I decided to do some collaborations with producers like Mighty Fools and the Fringe ( the band of my Mc Dan Stezo ) and add these tracks to the comp.
My international friends Oh Snap(UK?), Kazey(USA?) and Kelevra (UK) to name a few also gave me their latest tracks. Finally I mixed, freaked and juggled all tracks into an awesome mix!

Q: Can you describe the feel of this compilation and can you tell us what the tracks in your mix mean to you?
DJ Rockid : It means a lot to me, this is because i am a die hard promoter of this new sound. This new sound is tough, pure, cool and has the rawness of hiphop and the energy and tempo of today’s electronic dance music. It is not only a mix compilation, because it contains a lot of my own productions you are automatically attached to the project. That is a really good feeling. In a playful way you can introduce listeners to your own sound, this mixtape is an experience , basically a story in Music. This is my very first official mixtape on cd. Back in the days a mixtape which came on cassette was something holy to me, I was really proud when I got hold of some mixtapes of my favorite dj’s and artists like..... We did not have internet or cds on tapes and vinyl. I had my own collection of mixtapes and every dj or artist told his own story almost like reading a book.

Q: What projects are you working on at this moment, tracks, remixes ?
DJ Rockid : I have got some remixes scheduled, working on a lot of new productions while we speak. My main focus is to make tracks that really reflect the “Dj Rockid sound” , and to play it out to as many people as possible!

Q: How does this summer look for you, are you spinnin’ outside Holland?
DJ Rockid : We are working on a little Asia tour, I hope this will work out. I am looking forward to show my skills and play my new productions out there. I used to be a tour-dj for some bands some years ago , I still got lots of great memories from that period, Rock & Roll ! Baby! Hahaha.
I also want to go to the U.S. as the Fidget/Electro cross-over sound is really blowing up there.

Q: Any scoops ?
DJ Rockid : I have got some great new tunes coming up!
