Rapper and singer Kid Cudi – with a little help from production duo Crookers – will unleash the first big hit of 2009 with hip-house masterpiece Day ‘N’ Nite Lyrically angst-filled and insomnia inspired, the debut single oscillates between hypnotic, stripped back electro and unashamedly deranged, rave-style breakbeats complete with wonky bassline. The result is a disconcertingly catchy anthem that’s already causing high-scoring Richter Scale damage in clubs and winning over fans all day and all night long. Day ‘N’ Nite has been tearing up all the European resorts this summer and is now infiltrating the UK club scene - the track’s distinctive sound transcends genres and is rapidly becoming a massive anthem up and down the country. Whether it’s an urban, dance or a straight up pop night, Day ‘N’ Nite is certain to get the party started!
Born Scott Mescudi in Cleveland Ohio, Kid Cudi’s early converts include Kanye West. Having caught West’s ear and imagination, Cudi has been in the studio with the star collaborating on forthcoming album ‘808s & Heartbreak’ whilst simultaneously crafting his own debut LP, now due for release early 2009. Kid Cudi’s now seemingly unstoppable momentum has also lead to him being tipped by Rolling Stone and featured on the cover of the current edition of US music magazine XXL.
The original track’s sparse and minimal production has been invigorated by Italian duo Crookers’ addition of warped electro synths, noisy rave-influenced sounds, a dash of old skool and a monstrous bassline. Remixes come courtesy of Bimbo Jones, D.O.N.S, Mobin Master, Agent X & Greenmoney. |
